You may know someone one in your family, or someone at school, that has Autism. That is not a surprise because many children have Autism.
Autism affects how kids behave – sometimes kids with autism may do things that we think are ‘weird' or ‘strange'. They don't do this on purpose. Kids with Autism often have a hard time talking or communicating and that makes them very frustrated so they may act out, even yell or scream. Some kids with Autism cannot speak at all, but they are just like you and they want to speak to their moms, dads, brothers, sisters and friends. Kids with Autism sometimes get scared easily by noises or lights and this makes them feel frustrated, sad and alone.
By choosing Autism Speaks Canada, you will be helping us to find the pieces of the puzzle that will help make the lives of children who have Autism much better. They will have an easier time at school and find it easier to communicate with their friends and families if we can help them.
In Canada there are a lot of children that don’t have books in their house or at their school. The Indigo Love of Reading Foundation was started to help teachers buy new books for the school library so children could read books they like.

Every year we give $1,500,000 to Canadian schools that need our help and we get lots of thank you’s from the students!

All living creatures are part of an ecosystem. We all depend on each other. This is why we get very worried when any living creature becomes endangered. Endangered means almost all of a species is gone. Soon there will be none left in the whole world.
When an animal is extinct it is gone forever. When a plant is extinct it is gone forever. There is nothing we can do to get them back. When we protect animals that are endangered we give them the chance to raise families. Then they can increase their numbers.
